The Holidays Are Here...Are You Relieved?

I bet a great many of you who "celebrate" the holidays are also celebrating the fact that all of the preparing and getting ready for the holidays is all over.

This is such a common theme. People tend to focus too much on getting ready to celebrate and lose sight of the actual meaning of their religious day(s). This goes with all religions and is not targeted to a select few.

Make an effort to recognize what it is that you are actually preparing for, appreciate the excitement of anticipation, prepare yourself in advance (i.e. pay attention to what people like, dislike, need or want throughout the year) and understand that many others are far less fortunate than you are and would do anything in the world to be able to experience a fraction of the wealth and/or love that you have in your life!

Take these moments to reflect on how rich you truly are and how easy it is to take the people in your life and many things you own for granted! Being able to breath without assistance, walk without support, see the beauties of the world through your own eyes, walk out of your door without fear of bloodshed are just some of the many, many riches that a majority of us are blessed with. In fairness to those who do not share this type of wealth please recognize how privileged you really are!

Religious holidays are meant to be a celebration of life as well as an opportunity to appreciate our blessings. So don't get caught up in the frantic shopping frenzy or preparing for the big day and focus on how these days bring families closer together and are the moments that help shape our lives!
